I’ll bet their intern wrote that

1 August 2009

Having never apparently been twenty-something students themselves, the British Low Pay Commission (which I love for the simplicity of its name) is going to launch an investigation into the equity of steering recent graduates into long-term unpaid internships rather than offering them full-time jobs.  This includes interns for Members of Parliament, which apparently avail themselves of 18,000 man-hours of intern work a week.  (“Work…”)  You’d think most people in the lately-frothing British political commentariat would be pleased at the savings to taxpayers of all this free labor… but nevertheless I’m glad someone is stepping forth to break the culture of exploitation.  Our forefathers didn’t fight and die so I could work a part-time office job for nothing.
